Porsche praises the Hyundai Ioniq 5 N as a breakthrough EV, highlighting its virtual gears, engine sound, and sporty driving experience.

The Ioniq 5 N is “truly a discovery,” according to Porsche representatives, including Frank Moser, Vice President for the 718 and 911 model lines.

The EV made a strong impression on German engineers thanks to several unconventional solutions.
The most notable of these were the virtual gear-shifting feature and the artificial engine sound – both designed to recreate the feeling of a traditional sports car despite being fully electric.

Another feature that impressed Moser was the “N Grin Boost” mode, which unlocks the car’s maximum power. Moser stated: “We learned a lot from the Ioniq 5 N. They have done it exceptionally well.”
According to Porsche representatives, some of these ideas could influence the development of future Porsche EVs.
The Ioniq 5 N demonstrates that electric vehicles can be not only environmentally friendly but also emotionally exciting-combining practicality, power, sound, and the familiar sensations of a gasoline sports car that enthusiasts love.
